Sydney Light Rail CSELR Project

Project description

Location: Sydney

The Sydney CBD and South East Light Rail (CSELR) project comprises the design, construction, manufacture, testing and commissioning of an extension to the Sydney Light Rail system. The extension will service the Sydney CBD and south east Sydney with the route running from Circular Quay to Central Station via George Street, and on to Kingsford and Randwick via Surry Hills and Moore Park. The CSELR project includes LRVs, CSELR Stops, terminus facilities, interchanges and facilities at Randwick and Lilyfield for maintenance and stabling. The route includes a pedestrian zone in George Street from Hunter to Bathurst Street and features an overhead wire-free zone from Circular Quay, which utilises Alstom’s Alimentation par le Sol (APS, meaning feeding via the ground) LRV electrical power technology.

ALTRAC Light Rail, consisting of Transdev Sydney, Alstom Transport Australia, Acciona Infrastructure Australia and Capella Capital, will deliver the project under a Public Private Partnership contract which includes operations and maintenance of the integrated system for a 15-year period.

Peter Wilkinson was retained by Capella Capital as ALTRAC Technical Director for the initial stages of the project. He subsequently provided specialist services to Acciona including consultation management in relation to construction noise & vibration and the development of third party Safety Interface Agreements.
